Section 1 of 3: Macintosh OS X Lion (10.7)
Apple no longer provides an automatic installation of Java starting with OS X 10.7, and it must be downloaded manually from Apple
1. Browse to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572
2. Click Download.
3. Double-Click JavaForMacOSX10.7.dmg
4. Double-Click JavaForMacOSX10.7.pkg
5. Click Continue
6. Click Continue
7. Click Continue
8. Click Agree
9. Click Install
10. Enter your administrator password
11. Click Install Software
12. When the installation is complete, click close
Section 2 of 3: Macintosh
Apple provides and updates its own version of Java, for Mac OS X version 10.6 and below, and is available through Apple Software Update
1. Click on the Apple Menu
2. Select Software Update, it will take several moments to scan and load
3. If a Java update is available then it will be listed, if it is not listed then you are up to date with the most recent version of Java for Mac
4. If it is listed, then verify it is checked and click Install
Section 3 of 3: Windows
1. Browse to http://www.java.com/en/download/inc/windows_upgrade_ie.jsp
2. Click Agree and Start Free Download
3. Click Run
4. If a security warning appears, click Run
5. Click Install
6. Uncheck the Install the Yahoo! Toolbar box
7. Click Next and the software will install
8. Click Close
