Credit card insurance
An ASU management expert discusses the most, and least, useful types of credit card insurance.
In this story published Feb. 14, 2025, on WalletHub:
If I had to narrow down the most useful types of credit card insurance for cardholders, it would be trip cancellation insurance and car rental insurance. When booking a trip that includes airfare, lodging, and other prepaid expenses, it can be very expensive if you have to cancel last-minute. Most cards offer the travel insurance benefit as long as you book with your credit card, providing peace of mind if you have to cancel due to illness, severe weather, or some other unforeseen event. Car rental insurance is another great benefit as it allows you to decline high prices at the rental counter knowing that the card benefits have you covered in case of an accident or even theft. Many of these credit card benefits for car insurance kick in first as primary coverage, so you don't have to use your insurance. A very nice benefit.
