The job market is difficult to understand without accurate data. Economist's surveys have proven to be more reliable and timely than government statistics. Associate Professor of Economics Alex Bick and Assistant Professor of Economics Adam Blandin of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business have a method for collecting valid data more frequently.

Economists Alexander Bick and Adam Blandin attempt to fill in the picture further with a simple idea: Ask the same questions about workforce status that official government surveys ask, but ask them more often. Their “Real Time Population Survey (RPS)” will take place every other week, and has been administered twice.
